The JCR welfare team is here to help out in any way we can to make sure that your time here is as enjoyable as possible. If you have any concerns, big or small, or just want a chat, you can always contact the JCR Welfare Officers, any member of the JCR Welfare Team and Peer Supporters, or any of the Senior Welfare Team, particularly the Cox and Salvesen Fellows, Andrew Ramos and Annabella Massey – we are always here to listen, offer support and help out in any way we can. We’ve also put together a College Welfare Page with information about our Peer Supporters and the Senior Welfare Team, as well as a guide to many useful local and general resources to help with all sorts of situations. Use the flowchart below to help with identifying who to talk to if you have a problem.
New College has our very own Cookie Fairy! If you feel a friend is having a bad day or feeling low, you can message the Cookie Fairy on Facebook, or email one of our Welfare Officers to send them an anonymous cookie.
For more food-based welfare, come along to the JCR teas where the Welfare Officers put out a variety of teas, hot drinks, snacks, cakes, biscuits and other assorted foods in the JCR – anyone is welcome to come along for as little or as long as they like.
Sexual health supplies
We also offer a range of free sexual health supplies. We try and keep a constant supply of pregnancy tests in the pidge room, and will also publicise orders of condoms, dental dams and other products by email throughout the term. We will then discreetly pidge any supplies you request as soon as possible, usually in a day or two, for you to collect.
